PEMF / ion induction

Magnetic Therapy

High-energy pulsed magnetic therapy devices for pain relief and recovery.

How does magnetic therapy (ion induction) work?

During treatment the coil (applicator) is placed on or near the body part being treated; there is no need to undress. Within a few microseconds the device generates high-intensity magnetic pulses that pass through the tissues without contact and without heat. The pulses induce tiny electrical currents in the cells, which help to restore the membrane potential of damaged or exhausted cells. This can improve cellular metabolism and energy production, supporting the body's self-healing processes, regeneration and pain relief. The treatment is painless – at most a slight pulsing is felt – and lasts 10–30 minutes per session. It is most often used for sports injuries, joint and muscle pain, and post-operative rehabilitation.

Magnetic Therapy – good to know

Papimi and Ion Induction Therapy (IIT)

Papimi (Pap Ion Magnetic Inductor) is a device for Ion Induction Therapy (IIT) that works with a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF). The devices are available with two generations of generator: the proven ASKLIPIOS and the latest DELTA, winner of the 2023 Good Design Award. Using spark-gap plasma discharge, the DELTA generates ultra-broadband pulses with nanosecond rise times. Both generators operate at 40 kV peak voltage, with approximately 96 J of energy per pulse and a pulse rate of 1–8 Hz.

Focal and systemic treatment: the applicators

The Basic, Advanced and Professional configurations differ in the applicators supplied with them. The Spiral-M applicator is used for targeted, focal treatment, while the Ring applicator is suitable for extremities, neck, elbow and knee, as well as for sensitive patients such as children. The Fullbody applicator (~60 J, ~110 mT, ~15 cm penetration depth) provides systemic metabolic stimulation before and alongside focal treatments, and the Spiral-XL, with its larger coil, covers a larger area and penetrates deeper. Systemic preparation and targeted treatment can therefore be completed in a single session.

Clinical background and fields of application

Papimi has been used successfully in sports medicine, rehabilitation and rheumatology since the 1990s. It has no negative cardiovascular effects and also promotes general well-being. Fields of application: pain therapy, physiotherapy, sports medicine, orthopaedic trauma, rehabilitation, rheumatology, holistic medicine, dentistry, ENT, dermatology, urology, neurology, chronic fatigue, burnout, migraine and asthma.

Safety, quality and upgradability

Papimi devices are CE-marked Class IIa medical devices (DELTA range: 93/42/EEC Annex II, EN ISO 13485). The non-thermal pulse technology does not damage cells, and treatment is pain-free. ASKLIPIOS models can be traded in for a model of the DELTA series through an exchange programme, with a minimum credit of €5,000 and a free Spiral-XL applicator.
